Last timesheet goes in

by happylady1 @ Friday, 30. Nov, 2007 - 10:29:19

Hi everyone, hope you've had a good week. Mine's been good especially cos I put in my last time sheet yesterday. As you may know I recently got a job with the hospital I've been working at as a temp for the past 18 months. Anyway I start my fixed term contract next week so I put in my last timesheet to Office Angels yesterday. Mind you was starting to wonder if I'd done the right thing yesterday. The team I work in is extremely busy and we're about 5 weeks behind with our work but one of the bosses is the problem cos she won't help the situation and doesn't realise the effect she's having. I can cope with a backlog and a problem boss but what got to me yesterday was my colleague who does nothing but complain about the situation. Thing is she doesn't even need the money and I feel like saying if its that bad pack it in but of course you can't. I now live in a glass half full world which is a lot better than the glass half empty world I used to be in and to be honest I find her negativity sucks the energy out of me so I'm going to have to put in some kind of strategy to protect myself, any ideas?

Anyway, enough about work. Went out with Nic and Gordon last night to see a band. The gig was good but we all had a good chat and laugh together. I was driving and even though I couldn't have a drink it didn't stop me from enjoying myself. Had a bit of a dance which I love. Its great that hubby and Gord get on. Me and Nic are very alike and them 2 are really similar and they support the same footie team which is always a plus. Anyway we're going to fix up a night out over Xmas which should be good.

Having a girly day today. Going to have lunch with ma, my sister and Rebecca today. We always like to have a girly get ready for Xmas lunch and I'm looking forward to it. Ma always records Loose Women so when we take her home we watch that with a cuppa which just finishes our time together off nicely.

Tonight its going to be bottle of wine, crisps, chocolates and the final of I'm a Celeb. I want Biggins to win and will have to vote for him.

Tomorrow hubby is going to finish painting the woodwork in the kitchen and then we're having the flooring put down on Sunday so then operation kitchen will be over - big cheer:yes:

We're going to Sarah and Matt's tomorrow night for a meal and that'll be a good catch up cos we haven't seen em since August. They're trying for a baby and they'll make a lovely mummy and daddy.

The rest of the weekend will be spent doing housework, food shopping, Chrissy shopping. Want to get some jam made on Monday as I've nearly run out and don't want to have to buy some.

Well I've enjoyed writing this it always helps to tap away on the keyboard just writing your toughts down. Remember Lifes A Gas!:lalala:

Ooo Monday and no work today

by happylady1 @ Monday, 26. Nov, 2007 - 11:56:11

Here I am writing this, sitting on the sofa with This Morning on in the background. What've you been up to at the weekend? Did my supermarket shop on Sat morning, had the afternoon to myself as the lads went off to the footie so I used the time to make my Christmas puds which are steaming away as we speak. Watched a bit of the Dancing and went out to some friends and had a lovely meal with them. Dave was absolutely pie eyed by the end of the evening, my God can he drink. He started off with Guiness, we got through 3 bottles of white wine and when that was finished he drank an entire bottle and half of red. He's always been able to drink like a fish and most probably was fine on Sunday morning. I was quite good, had a few glasses of white followed by a Baileys with ice and that was my lot.

Yesterday hubby was painting the skirting boards in the kitchen, he's just got the door to paint next Saturday and then on Sunday Rob's going to put my floor down and then project kitchen is finally finished after a year in planning. It does look fab though and am glad that we didn't just run staight into it as our ideas changed with time and we've got a great end result.

Did a bit of Chrissy shopping on the net yesterday and got a couple of pressies for my nieces who are 9 year old twins. Just got to get my bro's present, hubbies and finished off our kids this week.

You'll know from my previous entries that I've got a job. Well I phoned the agency today and told them I'm finishing with them this Friday and my new contract starts next week. I'm going to be employed again with the NHS so will be in a pension scheme, get annual leave and all the benefits a contract brings with it.

Think I might tidy the garden up this afternoon as its quite a nice day and it'll be nice to get a bit of fresh air.

Got a busy social week this week. Back to work tomorrow and me and hubby are going Chrissy shopping after work on Wednesday followed by tea out. Thursday we're going out with Gordon and Nic to see a band (hopefully she'll feel up to going), then next Sat we're going to Matt and Sarah's for a meal. She texted me on Saturday asking me if we liked lamb and cherries so it sounds like we'll be getting something interesting.

God my kids are still in bed, sure they're hibernating sometimes.

ps let me know if you're enjoying my blog, looked at stats today and have had quite a few page views though no-ones subscribed to my blog yet.

Have a great week. See you soon.

Glad she listened to me!

by happylady1 @ Friday, 23. Nov, 2007 - 18:34:24

Hi, hope you've had a good Friday. Mine's been great as I went to town shopping with my ma today. We had a lovely time together, had coffee when we met, did some shopping, had a nice lunch in John Lewis although considering they're supposed to be a posh shop lunch wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Did some more shopping, had another coffee. Said ta tas and off we went back home.

I really love my ma. Took me a long time to realise how much, problems from the past had a negative effect on our relationship and since I had counselling things have improved 200%. Next Friday should be good cos Reb (my daughter), my sister, ma and me are going our for our pre-Xmas girly lunch. Its really nice for us to get together and have a nice chat.

As you may know from my previous entries I've been worried about my mate. Anyway she's been to the Dr's today and has been told that its stress from work that's making her ill. She's been told to have a chat to our manager and if that doesn't work she must take sick leave. I was a bit unsure whether to try and push her into going as I didn't want to upset her but I'm so glad that she took my advice. If I were her I'd take next week off next week with a fake illness whilst I got myself together a bit and thought things through. Might give her a ring tomorrow but have to be careful of not interfering, sometimes its difficult to know how much to say.

Am going food shopping tomorrow and will be getting ingredients to make an Xmas pud which I'm going to do tomorrow afternoon. Not long till Xmas now, got some more presents today but still got loads to get. Trouble is I hate wrapping pressies, I love to give them but don't like having to do the fiddly bit.

Have a nice weekend. Tarrah:lalala:

One more day to work this week

by happylady1 @ Wednesday, 21. Nov, 2007 - 20:36:44

Oh goody only got tomorrow to do at work. I'm really enjoying my job, got a variety of stuff to do, never stuck for work, good colleagues (apart from one person who could never be described as a team player but that's another story), and I only have to go 3 days a week - bliss! Had a good day today, on a Wednesday a group of us tends to go to the pub for lunch. We don't have anything alcoholic to drink but we all get on really well and have a good chat.

When I got home tonight it got even better. My daughter had made our tea and my hubby had bought me a bunch of flowers and we've got a bottle of red wine to share - I am spoilt.

Footie's on tonight, I can't stand it myself but hubby loves football so I think I'm going to read my book and chill out.

Got quite a busy weekend coming up. Got to go to my GP for a check up on Friday, following that I'm going to town to meet my mum for a shopping excursion - course a nice lunch might just come into it. Will no doubt have a glass or 2 of something at night. Then on Saturday hubby will be going to footie and I'll be doing housework and yippee I've got a night off cooking as we're going to some friends for a meal. On Sunday hubby's going to be finishing off the painting in my kitchen - tiling is now finished and it looks just fab am really pleased with the choices we've made for the kitchen.

Spoke to my mate Nic today and she's going to see her GP tomorrow - think she might need some anti depressants but I'm sure if she starts taking them she'll be ok in a few weeks. Mind you when she told her hubby she was going to the Dr's he was puzzled as to why she needed to. I'm not sure with men whether they just don't realise how their other half is feeling or whether they do realise but are scared by it and try to pass it off thinking that their missis will be ok. Anyway I've told her to give me a ring if she needs someone to talk to. Sometimes just having someone say this to you can make you feel better.

My word this is a long blog tonight bet you're bored silly.

Naughty John's on Corrie at the moment fobbing Fizz off - there's going to be trouble coming his way just hope he doesn't get Rosie preggers cos Sally will have a fit!

Got a lovely top come via Ebay tonight - wanted a Christmassy top for my works do, paid £6.00 and it'll just do the trick - Wallis top that's only been worn once.

Well can't think of anything else to tell you. Bye!

Heads should roll!

by happylady1 @ Tuesday, 20. Nov, 2007 - 19:51:12

Can you believe this Goverment, discs with information regarding every child in Great Britain have gone missing whilst on route from one Government department to another. Why would any official pass such confidential information onto a delivery firm - surely it would have been better for someone from the dept who were sending the discs to entrust them to a member of staff who themself transported the discs using if necessary a taxi. How can we trust this Government to look after this country when they can't even protect their population with such a task as this.

Gordon Brown should be outed, he daren't call an election cause he's so unsure of getting back in. Watching his face in the Commons on the news tonight was a delight to see him in such painful embarassment.

Tony Blair must be laughing himself silly - I didn't like him much in the end but felt sorry for him by the way Gordon managed to shove him out of office.

Worried about my friend

by happylady1 @ Sunday, 18. Nov, 2007 - 12:41:58

Went out with Nic and Gordon last night. Had a great night, curry wasn't all that good but still we had a good laugh. Am worried about Nic though. As I said in my last post she's not been to good this week and apparently on Thursday afternoon she just started crying and crying like she's never cried before and couldn't stop. I know she's suffered from depression before and I think she's suffering again. She's gone onto HRT recently and I'm wondering if it could be a side effect of the medication. I'm trying to help her the best I can but I have to protect myself too cos I've been ok for the past 18 months and can't take other people's problems on board so I've got to watch myself cos I know I have got sucked into other peoples problems before and its not good for me.

Having a lazy morning watching TV and surfing on the net. Hubby's just finished painting the kitchen walls. Am making a pot roast for dinner and shall make some yorkie's to go with it.

Have a lazy day

Lazy Friday

by happylady1 @ Friday, 16. Nov, 2007 - 16:59:05

My day off work today and I've been a bit lazy. Got the tiler here and he's doing a brill job with the tiling in my kitchen, it looks fab. Been cleaning out my shoe cupboard today it was disgustingly dusty. Threw a couple of pairs of shoes out and it looks nice and neat. Wish I could say the same about my son's bedroom. He's 19 and we just can't get him to sort his room out. There's clothes all over, dirty plates, a full bin, it smells, I could go on and on. Finally hubby has had enough and he's going to take the keyboard off his computer and that might make Mat buckle under and get it tidied. I feel so ashamed when I go in there, I keep threatening to clean it myself but to be honest I can't bear to go in.

Felt sorry for my friend this week. She works part time in the same place as me. She's got an 18 and a 14 year old, a couple of step grandchildren and she's been pulled every way. Stepdaughter wants my pal to babysit her daughter when its Nic's day off work and Nic being the type of person who she is finds it hard to say no. This means that she has less time to sort her house out and is absolutely run ragged. Going out with Nic and her hubby for a curry tomorrow night so that'll help cheer her up, she was right down at the beginning of the week and I've told her she's got to start delegating jobs in the house otherwise she end up being ill.

Not sure what else we're doing this weekend, I'll have to go to the supermarket tomorrow and the house will need cleaning. Might make some rhubarb jam as I need to make soom room in my freezer.

Enjoying watching I'm a Celebrity at the moment, it was really funny with Janice last night on the task but she's certainly not a team player. If its left to her they will all starve. Think its cruel how the public keep voting for her.

Just me and hubby in for tea tonight and we're having bangers and mash, some left over stew and I'm going to have some of my home made onion marmalade with it. Yum, yum.

Might watch a bit of Children in Need tonight. Hear Tel's waived his fee so I might even feel the need to donate a bit of dosh.

Have a great weekend.B)

Quiet weekend - feel totally relaxed

by happylady1 @ Sunday, 11. Nov, 2007 - 19:54:59

Had a lovely quiet weekend. Hubby's got the kitchen painted and it looks lovely. Can't wait till Friday when I get my tiles put up. Been a chore weekend really. Was ironing, hoovering and cleaning the bathrooms yesterday. We had a Chinese takeaway last night and watched TV. Really enjoyed the Kylie programme. Went to bed when the footie came on and slept till 8.30 this morning.

Got up about 10ish and had toast with some of my homemade blackberry jam. Hubby put on the 2nd coat of paint whilst I washed all the paintwork downstairs. Going to do the upstairs on Friday. For lunch I made a ham and mushroom omlette sandwich and it was really yummy.

I made some cranberry sauce for Xmas today and had some with our roast chicken tonight, its absolutely gorgeous. Made a lovely Sunday dinner, and finished off with a yummy rhubarb crumble and custard.

Am off to a local bar tonight to get some tickets for a gig we're going to in a couple of weeks.

Day off tomorrow and am going to go to Meadowhall. Got my sister in law's birthday pressie to get and want to have a browse round the shops. Going to pick up some M&S stuff for lunch and am popping to my mum's to have it with her whilst we watch Loose Women.

Only 8 weeks till Christmas now and got to get on with my shopping. Think I'm going to get my ma's pressie tomorrow she wants some Rive Gauche perfume and I've seen a nice gift set in Boots catalogue.

Reading Cuban Heels by Emily Barr at the moment and its quite good.

Been having a surf on ebay trying to find a bargain outfit for Xmas do's. Seen a couple of dresses I'm keeping my eye on. Will think of you getting up for work in the morning as I'm laid snoozing in bed.:))

My weekend starts here

by happylady1 @ Thursday, 08. Nov, 2007 - 21:40:47

Thank goodness its Thursday night, got a glass of wine and its my day off tomorrow. I've certainly earned my wages this week. Done loads but there's been a little bit of tension with my team mates as they've had to make changes to their workstations cos I'm working with them. It didn't go down too well but I've got an excellent boss and she smoothed the way. I'm really pleased because before having counselling I had problems dealing with difficult situations but I've put everything I've learned into practice and I'm really pleased with my progress. I've achieved so much over the past 18 months.

After finishing my counselling I didn't really think it had helped me but it takes time to put what you've learned about yourself and ways to deal with things into operation but it has been fantastic for me.

Got a load of cleaning in my house to do tomorrow but am looking forward to getting on with it. Spoke to the tiler who's doing my kitchen today. He's got some great ideas and I can't wait till next Friday to get my tiles up. Hubby's getting the paintbrush out this weekend to get the other walls done and I'll be cracking the whip.

I've decided not to carry on with my voluntary work. Realised I was in danger of burning myself out and unfortunately I've had to make myself unpopular with the manager but that's life and in future I've not got to push myself as much. I put my family through the mill a couple of years ago and am not going to do that again.

Am looking forward to watching Loose Women on TV tomorrow - I know how sad am I.

Hope you enjoy reading my blogs. I find it really therapeutic to just sit down and type out my thoughts. Back to my wine I go!

What a boring party!

by happylady1 @ Sunday, 04. Nov, 2007 - 18:32:17

Me and hubby went to the neighbour's party last night. It was soooo boring. The music was via the music channel on Sky so all that happens is that people get drawn to watching the TV. Whenever this couple have a party its normally boring, they had one last new year's eve and we popped in on the way back from the pub. We had toyed with the idea of just going to their house and were so glad that we changed our mind. A good party to me needs to have good varied music so that it appeals to everyone and sets the atmosphere. Our's was miles better.

Been and got the rest of the stuff for out kitchen. The tiler's coming in a couple of weeks so next weekend it'll be operation paintbrush for my hubby - don't want to be painting in the kitchen after the tilings been done. Got some really nice flooring and I think its going to look fab.

Have you started your Xmas shopping yet? I've got some bits and pieces but am going to seriously get going with it next Monday. Just need to find out what people are wanting.

My day off tomorrow. Got my ironing to do, and I think I might make some jam in the afternoon. Tomorrow night hubby wants to have a bonfire on the allotment so that should be good standing by a fire, eating bonfire toffee whilst we watch the fireworks going off.

Going to get my tea ready now, we're having steak, mash and veggies, yum yum. Plus we've got my red onion marmalade. Mouth's watering now so off to the kitchen I go.

See you all later and keep smiling.:lalala:

Friday night and I'm staying in

by happylady1 @ Friday, 02. Nov, 2007 - 18:57:07

I'm shattered. Been working hard this week in my new job. Its ok at the moment apart from the 2 other members of the team need their heads banging together. Still its a new challenge and I think its going to be good.

Went to see Stardust with some girls from work last night. Its a great film and I really enjoyed it but my favourite this year is still Hairspray.

Been out for a girlie lunch today with my mum, sister and my 2 nieces. Was really nice cos I haven't seen my sister and her kids for a while and we had a great time together.

Went to the dentist this morning and I had a filling. Don't know which is worse having the dental work done or having to pay for it still £43.50 on the NHS isn't that bad compared to private prices I suppose but NHS treatment is certainly more expensive than it used to be.

Hoping to have a chilling weekend. Going to a party tomorrow so probably will have a bad head on Sunday.
